It’s wonderful to be able to address a group of people who are conservative thinkers! This group can accomplish a lot if we don’t hang ourselves. One thing I love about conservatives is that they know what they think and aren’t wishy-washy. That said, if we want to succeed in pursuing the agenda of taking back America, we must take tender care of each other. With conservatives that shouldn’t be difficult. Not all conservatives agree on everything, and it is those areas that can, if we allow it to, stand in the way of unity.

RELIGION
I would suggest we keep it toned down a bit. Those of us who believe cannot be harmed by those who do not, and we are not about to harm others. Religion is NOT an issue we must all agree on, even in a candidate.

ABORTION
Related to religion. Some see it as evil. Some see it as a privacy issue. Some see it as amoral and/or murder. Some see no harm in it. If you are like me, your feelings are strong and you won’t give up those feelings. BUT we must not allow our differences in this issue to separate us from our goal. We each retain our beliefs, but we don’t really need to attack each other, right?

WAR
Another area of disagreement. Not every candidate is going to satisfy all of us – can we not agree that if we see the candidate as a decent, honest person with integrity, we can tolerate him as an official? Vote the way you wish, but maybe we can refrain from bashing each other in the head as we go along? ;-)

MIDDLE EAST
Ditto the above

FREEDOM, LIBERTY
Do we all agree on the definitions? Do we not all want total freedom? We have to be careful on this one if one looks at abortion. The “my body is mine” thing? Some feel the unborn baby’s body is his, not his mother’s. For me personally this one is a really sticky one as I understand where the other side comes from, but disagree. We must think about HOW we disagree publicly and still maintain unity.

I am sure there are other hot button issues you can, and hopefully will provide. My suggestions are just that – suggestions. I am open to everyone’s suggestions.

I write this because I am pretty sure that’s how we lose honest elections: we allow single issues to rule our senses, whereas we possibly would all be better off if we CONSERVATIVES could coalesce instead of divide ourselves.

Please let me know what you think?

Corruption, ruthlessness, and Far-Left agenda

Jim O’Neill,  Author at Canada Free Press.com

“Find out just what the people will submit to, and you have found out the exact amount of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them; and these will continue until they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.” — Frederick Douglass, civil rights activist, (circa 1818-1895)

One of three possible scenarios is currently being played out in the United States.

Obama Administration is the most corrupt, dishonest, and inept Administration that America

The first option, is simply that the Obama Administration is the most corrupt, dishonest, and inept Administration that America has ever been burdened with.

That is the “best case”  scenario.  Unfortunately, this is the option that I think least likely.

I suppose it is possible that Obama has simply had a phenomenal run of bad luck; that the various bills and laws passed by his Administration have, by some fluke, been accidentally anti-small business, anti-free enterprise, economically suicidal, and have worsened the economic crisis, not ended it.

I might also mention that there has been a, how shall I say this—lackadaisical—attitude towards an American debt of biblical proportions.

Obama Administration despises individual freedom, capitalism, free-enterprise

The second option, is that the Obama Administration despises individual freedom, capitalism, free-enterprise, and is hell-bent on transforming the United States into a fascist/communist collective—a regime that will be run by a venal, ruthless, power-hungry elite.

That actually sounds more plausible to me.

Obama Administration is part of a global restructuring process, New World Order

The third option is, that the Obama Administration is part of a global restructuring process (New World Order), in which the world will be turned into a fascist/communist collective—run by a venal, ruthless, power-hungry elite.

My guess is—take your pick between options two and three.

If you’re surprised by my analysis, then you haven’t been paying attention to what has happened, and is happening, to the United States.

Let me roll out some facts and figures for you.

The SEIU (Service Employees International Union) is run by Andy Stern, a militant Far-Left thug, and Anna Burger, another Far-Left radical.  The SEIU has increased its size and power through, arm-twisting intimidation tactics, and other nefarious means.

Two years ago Obama said before an SEIU rally, “I’ve spent my entire adult life working with SEIU.”

That is not good news.  Once you’ve looked into the corruption, ruthlessness, and Far-Left agenda of the SEIU leadership, you will know that it is not good news at all.

Obama has appointed two stalwart friends of SEIU to high level positions: Kathleen Selibus (D-Kansas) as head of the Department of Health and Human Services, and Hilda Solis to head the Department of Labor.

The SEIU currently has over 2 million members.  most of them are essentially unwilling inductees, but many are “true believers.”

Let’s discuss ACORN.

Wade Rathke, who “cut his teeth” in the Far-Left radical group SDS in the 1960s, founded ACORN, and also SEIU Local 100.  These and numerous other Far-Left groups under the Rathke “umbrella” are funded by our taxpayer dollars.

According to the “Sweetness and Light” website: “ACORN claims more than 400,000 dues-paying member families, and more than 1,200 chapters in 110 U.S. cities.”

And lets not forget the hundreds of “advocacy groups” connected with Acorn: groups such as the WFP (Working Families Party),—which, according to an Associated Press report, was created in 1998 to help push the Democratic Party toward the left.”  (Like they needed the help).

Many of our taxpayer dollars are funneled to various Far-Left organizations which, after the “bosses” get their cut, distribute the money among hundreds, possibly thousands, of groups which advocate the destruction of the United States as a free republic, and the installation of a welfare collective.

That’s not hyperbole folks.  It’s a con game that is going on, and has been going on for years—with the assistance of radical leftist foundations like Arca, and the Tides Foundation.

Some deal, huh?  Collect the money earned by some bourgeois chump, and then spend your time trying to destroy the system that enabled the chump to make the money in the first place.  Sweet!

My point here is that there are already a number of available thugs in place, should the Obama Administration need them.  And we shouldn’t forget AmeriCorp, and the other paramilitary groups getting ready to “muscle up.”

Although I’ve been talking exclusively about the Far-Left influence, I don’t want to be remiss, and forget to mention that greed, corruption, and duplicity are non-partisan vices.  The right-wing has its share of snakes in the grass as well.

I watched a town hall meeting yesterday where Senator McCain was asked a question about Obama disrespecting the U.S. Constitution.  Senator McCain replied, “I’m sure that he respects the Constitution.”

Senator McCain’s comment was booed, and I turned off the TV.  Why are you covering for Obama, John?

How can a person with as many years on Capitol Hill as Senator McCain, say with a straight face, that Obama respects the Constitution.  I guess it takes all those years in Congress, to be able to state such a bald-faced lie with a straight face.

With all due respect to his heroic service record, Senator McCain is either an inattentive dolt, or he thinks that the American public are morons.  I’m not especially fond of either conclusion.

Obama and his ilk have been trying to tear down the Constitution for decades.  It’s an axiom that the Far-Left hates the Constitution, and the liberal-left is no friend to it.  They see it, and have always seen it, as an obstacle to implementing their collectivist social engineering agendas.

An article from “The American Spectator” states that Obama believes that, “The Constitution’s fatal “flaw” is that it set up a limited form of government, far too passive in its understanding of rights to deliver the liberal utopia for which radicals have rooted since the 1960s.”

The Far-Left has an undeniable panache for naming things what they are not.  Calling the government takeover of health care, the “public option,” is one example.  Another gem, is calling the “death by a thousand cuts,” of the U.S. Constitution, the “Living Constitution.”

As Bubba Clinton might have said, “Just how do you define the word—living?”

By the term “living Constitution” the Left means a pliable, moldable, elastic Constitution. A Constitution that can be stretched and formed to mean anything that they want it to mean.  They mean the death of the U.S. Constitution, as it was written by the Founding Fathers.

Instead of a bulwark protecting the American public from government interference, the Constitution will become a means for enacting Draconian laws to oppress the people.  The “living Constitution” means a perverted travesty of the U.S. Constitution.

It’s rapidly coming down to this: either there will be a number of unpatriotic, if not anti-American individuals, who will be tried for treason against the United States, during a time of war—and I believe that the penalty for that is death—or the United States as a free republic, and world power, will perish.

As Abraham Lincoln so eloquently put it, “We shall nobly save, or meanly lose, the last best hope of earth.”  The time is upon us, and we cannot vacillate any longer.

Don’t buy into the H1N1 crisis

I live in Florida, and we’re used to getting ready for hurricanes.  We buy portable radios, flashlights, and batteries.  We stock up on non-perishable foods, and bottled water.

There is most definitely a “hurricane” coming, and for this storm, you might want to add arms and ammo to your shopping list.

Keep a “weather eye” out for the “Reichstag fire,” and don’t buy into the H1N1 crisis (yes, yet another crisis—yawn), and keep your butt out of any “quarantine camps.”

Godspeed.  And may God bless America.

I was “thumbing through” Morality101 and espied the War on Drugs Clock.  It’s an interesting page and paints a heck of a picture.

This is a free country (at least for now), so we have the freedom to change our minds on occasion, right?  I spent years and years believing mind altering drugs should be banned with penalties.  That was done – and in addition to VERY costly, it was very WASTEFUL – wasteful of policemen’s time, courts’ time, everyone’s money, and it would appear it has done no good whatsoever.

So my question is:  why are we still fighting it?  Has fighting it become addictive?  Have we decided that if we fight it long enough it will eventually pay off?  There has to be some good reason we throw money at something when we get nothing in return.  This boggles the mind.

I am not a drug user – have never even been in the presence of marijuana, cannot recognize the leaf or the odor.  I attend church regularly, not that anyone here cares, but I am merely providing truth in advertising so to speak.

I believe it is time to stop this “war” and let our law enforcement people get back to fighting crime rather than chase dealers and coke heads day in and day out.  I have come to the conclusion we should stop trying to legislate in any way people’s behavior with only one or two caveats.

I would legalize all heretofore illegal drugs for purchase at pharmacies without RX by adults who must sign as well as pay for the substance.  That person must not be allowed to escape responsibility and penalty if anyone is harmed by him or his actions while he is under the influence of said drug.  I would include alcohol in this law.  Under no circumstances should insurance companies be mandated to pay for these substances when not ordered for a medical reason.

If we legalized illegal substances, our streets and neighborhoods would be safer – there would be no drug lords, no crazed addicts running amok, no crack houses, not as many murders that involve drugs, and the police could do police work rather than baby sit addicts.  Our overcrowded jails would be emptier, our courtrooms would be emptier.  It is even possible our hospitals would be emptier.

It is way passed time to quit mollycoddling addicts and other self made victims.  I believe if they want to drink themselves or drug themselves to death, that should be their privilege.  Trying to save them from that has been a huge disaster and far too costly.  The taxpayer doesn’t deserve to be saddled with society’s self made cripples any longer.

In the American Chronicle novels of Gore Vidal, the left liberal revisionist view of American history has achieved a major breakthrough into the American cultural mainstream. But this is far from its only important victory in recent years. It has also made its way into the textbooks that American high school and college students are required to read when they take courses in American history.

Exceptionally well documented article which cannot help but make one aware of how American History has been subtly revised to suit the purposes of the so-called “progressive” agenda.  Constitutes a huge part of the brainwashing which has brought American Liberty to it’s knees.  This will take some time to read, but be be well worth every minute.

Nobody wants to mention tax rises just ahead of the elections,” said Thorolfur Matthiasson, an economics professor at the University of Iceland. “But if the budget deficit is 10 percent of GDP and the official debt is approximately what the nation can produce in one year, then the politicians will have to raise tax and reduce public spending.

It’s hard to pay attention to what’s happening in such a seemingly small, remote and insignificant country as Iceland, but the parallels of retro-progress in Iceland and USA are stunning and terrifying. Think for a moment, this is a part of global collapse begun here in our USSA with the last trigger on this shotgun being the CRA. Then note our Rulers now considering renewal of the CRA to cure the problems caused by the CRA.

A domestic uprising is becoming more of a reality as our rights are threatened by the epic failure that is socialism.  It’s common knowledge that our country is struggling within its own borders.  Conservatives and liberals are at each others throats, and although there was much talk about bipartisanship we have yet to see any inclination this will happen with the democrats holding the majority.  The real question is how bad do things have to get before actions overpower negotiation.

The economy is still garbage, the unemployment rate is 8.5%, and there is active legislation to suppress rights and liberties afforded to us by our founding fathers.  This administration is an embarrassment to society, and society will only take so much before it fights back.  Attempts at negotiation with have proved fruitless, Ann Coulter said it best herself.

Political debate with liberals is basically impossible in America today because liberals are calling names while conservatives are trying to make arguments.

Its no secret that the financial stability of our country is in jeopardy.  The massive amount of money being poured into the financial sector has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is our pockets.  Its likely going to come from pockets of Americans not yet old enough to have a voice.  Funding the bailouts is like stealing from piggy banks.  There is not an American out there who is not feeling the effect of stupid liberals trying to level the playing field.  Our country was founded around capitalism; keep your filthy hands to yourself.  Obama, in his infinite wisdom was was quoted saying

I think when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.

The only people this is good for is the lazy liberals who have refused to apply themselves and expect to dig in my pocket for “change”.  Try it again and you will pull back a bloody stump.

The national unemployment rate is hovering around 8.5% the highest rate since 1983.  With this many misplaced workers tension is mounting between unemployed citizens and the marxists who think its their job to run this country.  To all Karl following morons who put faith into big government and our current administration, we have news for you, we were given the right by men much wiser than all of you collectively to take you down a peg or two.

A country not focused on free enterprise is doomed to fail, and your unwillingness to admit that will be your demise.  Every public asset has roots in free enterprise, and therefor every argument you can make for socialism is weak.  If you do not stop force feeding us your agenda we will have no choice but to take a defensive stance, and by defensive I mean smear your sorry excuse for an opinion back to London where it came from.  This is not a threat, it is a promise, one that I am allowed to make if you continue to violate my rights.

Following is the complete article from Original URL

It is important to keep in mind the difference between a Democracy and a Republic, as dissimilar forms of government. Understanding the difference is essential to comprehension of the fundamentals involved. It should be noted, in passing, that use of the word Democracy as meaning merely the popular type of government–that is, featuring genuinely free elections by the people periodically–is not helpful in discussing, as here, the difference between alternative and dissimilar forms of a popular government: a Democracy versus a Republic. This double meaning of Democracy–a popular-type government in general, as well as a specific form of popular government–needs to be made clear in any discussion, or writing, regarding this subject, for the sake of sound understanding.

These two forms of government: Democracy and Republic, are not only dissimilar but antithetical, reflecting the sharp contrast between (a) The Majority Unlimited, in a Democracy, lacking any legal safeguard of the rights of The Individual and The Minority, and (b) The Majority Limited, in a Republic under a written Constitution safeguarding the rights of The Individual and The Minority; as we shall now see.

A Democracy

The chief characteristic and distinguishing feature of a Democracy is: Rule by Omnipotent Majority. In a Democracy, The Individual, and any group of Individuals composing any Minority, have no protection against the unlimited power of The Majority. It is a case of Majority-over-Man.

This is true whether it be a Direct Democracy, or a Representative Democracy. In the direct type, applicable only to a small number of people as in the little city-states of ancient Greece, or in a New England town-meeting, all of the electorate assemble to debate and decide all government questions, and all decisions are reached by a majority vote (of at least half-plus-one). Decisions of The Majority in a New England town-meeting are, of course, subject to the Constitutions of the State and of the United States which protect The Individual’s rights; so, in this case, The Majority is not omnipotent and such a town-meeting is, therefore, not an example of a true Direct Democracy. Under a Representative Democracy like Britain’s parliamentary form of government, the people elect representatives to the national legislature–the elective body there being the House of Commons–and it functions by a similar vote of at least half-plus-one in making all legislative decisions.

In both the Direct type and the Representative type of Democracy, The Majority’s power is absolute and unlimited; its decisions are unappealable under the legal system established to give effect to this form of government. This opens the door to unlimited Tyranny-by-Majority. This was what The Framers of the United States Constitution meant in 1787, in debates in the Federal (framing) Convention, when they condemned the “excesses of democracy” and abuses under any Democracy of the unalienable rights of The Individual by The Majority. Examples were provided in the immediate post-1776 years by the legislatures of some of the States. In reaction against earlier royal tyranny, which had been exercised through oppressions by royal governors and judges of the new State governments, while the legislatures acted as if they were virtually omnipotent. There were no effective State Constitutions to limit the legislatures because most State governments were operating under mere Acts of their respective legislatures which were mislabelled “Constitutions.” Neither the governors not the courts of the offending States were able to exercise any substantial and effective restraining influence upon the legislatures in defense of The Individual’s unalienable rights, when violated by legislative infringements. (Connecticut and Rhode Island continued under their old Charters for many years.) It was not until 1780 that the first genuine Republic through constitutionally limited government, was adopted by Massachusetts–next New Hampshire in 1784, other States later.

It was in this connection that Jefferson, in his “Notes On The State of Virginia” written in 1781-1782, protected against such excesses by the Virginia Legislature in the years following the Declaration of Independence, saying: “An elective despotism was not the government we fought for . . .” (Emphasis Jefferson’s.) He also denounced the despotic concentration of power in the Virginia Legislature, under the so-called “Constitution”–in reality a mere Act of that body:

“All the powers of government, legislative, executive, judiciary, result to the legislative body. The concentrating these in the same hands is precisely the definition of despotic government. It will be no alleviation that these powers will be exercised by a plurality of hands, and not by a single one. 173 despots would surely be as oppressive as one. Let those who doubt it turn their eyes on the republic of Venice.”

This topic–the danger to the people’s liberties due to the turbulence of democracies and omnipotent, legislative majority–is discussed in The Federalist, for example in numbers 10 and 48 by Madison (in the latter noting Jefferson’s above-quoted comments).

The Framing Convention’s records prove that by decrying the “excesses of democracy” The Framers were, of course, not opposing a popular type of government for the United States; their whole aim and effort was to create a sound system of this type. To contend to the contrary is to falsify history. Such a falsification not only maligns the high purpose and good character of The Framers but belittles the spirit of the truly Free Man in America–the people at large of that period–who happily accepted and lived with gratification under the Constitution as their own fundamental law and under the Republic which it created, especially because they felt confident for the first time of the security of their liberties thereby protected against abuse by all possible violators, including The Majority momentarily in control of government. The truth is that The Framers, by their protests against the “excesses of democracy,” were merely making clear their sound reasons for preferring a Republic as the proper form of government. They well knew, in light of history, that nothing but a Republic can provide the best safeguards–in truth in the long run the only effective safeguards (if enforced in practice)–for the people’s liberties which are inescapably victimized by Democracy’s form and system of unlimited Government-over-Man featuring The Majority Omnipotent. They also knew that the American people would not consent to any form of government but that of a Republic. It is of special interest to note that Jefferson, who had been in Paris as the American Minister for several years, wrote Madison from there in March 1789 that:

“The tyranny of the legislatures is the most formidable dread at present, and will be for long years. That of the executive will come it’s turn, but it will be at a remote period.” (Text per original.)

Somewhat earlier, Madison had written Jefferson about violation of the Bill of Rights by State legislatures, stating:

“Repeated violations of those parchment barriers have been committed by overbearing majorities in every State. In Virginia I have seen the bill of rights violated in every instance where it has been opposed to a popular current.”

It is correct to say that in any Democracy–either a Direct or a Representative type–as a form of government, there can be no legal system which protects The Individual or The Minority (any or all minorities) against unlimited tyranny by The Majority. The undependable sense of self-restraint of the persons making up The Majority at any particular time offers, of course, no protection whatever. Such a form of government is characterized by The Majority Omnipotent and Unlimited. This is true, for example, of the Representative Democracy of Great Britain; because unlimited government power is possessed by the House of Lords, under an Act of Parliament of 1949–indeed, it has power to abolish anything and everything governmental in Great Britain.

For a period of some centuries ago, some English judges did argue that their decisions could restrain Parliament; but this theory had to be abandoned because it was found to be untenable in the light of sound political theory and governmental realities in a Representative Democracy. Under this form of government, neither the courts not any other part of the government can effectively challenge, much less block, any action by The Majority in the legislative body, no matter how arbitrary, tyrannous, or totalitarian they might become in practice. The parliamentary system of Great Britain is a perfect example of Representative Democracy and of the potential tyranny inherent in its system of Unlimited Rule by Omnipotent Majority. This pertains only to the potential, to the theory, involved; governmental practices there are irrelevant to this discussion.

Madison’s observations in The Federalist number 10 are noteworthy at this point because they highlight a grave error made through the centuries regarding Democracy as a form of government. He commented as follows:

“Theoretic politicians, who have patronized this species of government, have erroneously supposed, that by reducing mankind to a perfect equality in their political rights, they would, at the same time, be perfectly equalized and assimilated in their possessions, their opinions, and their passions.”

Democracy, as a form of government, is utterly repugnant to–is the very antithesis of–the traditional American system: that of a Republic, and its underlying philosophy, as expressed in essence in the Declaration of Independence with primary emphasis upon the people’s forming their government so as to permit them to possess only “just powers” (limited powers) in order to make and keep secure the God-given, unalienable rights of each and every Individual and therefore of all groups of Individuals.

A Republic

A Republic, on the other hand, has a very different purpose and an entirely different form, or system, of government. Its purpose is to control The Majority strictly, as well as all others among the people, primarily to protect The Individual’s God-given, unalienable rights and therefore for the protection of the rights of The Minority, of all minorities, and the liberties of people in general. The definition of a Republic is: a constitutionally limited government of the representative type, created by a written Constitution–adopted by the people and changeable (from its original meaning) by them only by its amendment–with its powers divided between three separate Branches: Executive, Legislative and Judicial. Here the term “the people” means, of course, the electorate.

The people adopt the Constitution as their fundamental law by utilizing a Constitutional Convention–especially chosen by them for this express and sole purpose–to frame it for consideration and approval by them either directly or by their representatives in a Ratifying Convention, similarly chosen. Such a Constitutional Convention, for either framing or ratification, is one of America’s greatest contributions, if not her greatest contribution, to the mechanics of government–of self-government through constitutionally limited government, comparable in importance to America’s greatest contribution to the science of government: the formation and adoption by the sovereign people of a written Constitution as the basis for self-government. One of the earliest, if not the first, specific discussions of this new American development (a Constitutional Convention) in the historical records is an entry in June 1775 in John Adams’ “Autobiography” commenting on the framing by a convention and ratification by the people as follows:

“By conventions of representatives, freely, fairly, and proportionately chosen . . . the convention may send out their project of a constitution, to the people in their several towns, counties, or districts, and the people may make the acceptance of it their own act.”

Yet the first proposal in 1778 of a Constitution for Massachusetts was rejected for the reason, in part, as stated in the “Essex Result” (the result, or report, of the Convention of towns of Essex County), that it had been framed and proposed not by a specially chosen convention but by members of the legislature who were involved in general legislative duties, including those pertaining to the conduct of the war.

The first genuine and soundly founded Republic in all history was the one created by the first genuine Constitution, which was adopted by the people of Massachusetts in 1780 after being framed for their consideration by a specially chosen Constitutional Convention. (As previously noted, the so-called “Constitutions” adopted by some States in 1776 were mere Acts of Legislatures, not genuine Constitutions.) That Constitutional Convention of Massachusetts was the first successful one ever held in the world; although New Hampshire had earlier held one unsuccessfully – it took several years and several successive conventions to produce the New Hampshire Constitution of 1784. Next, in 1787-1788, the United States Constitution was framed by the Federal Convention for the people’s consideration and then ratified by the people of the several States through a Ratifying Convention in each State specially chosen by them for this sole purpose. Thereafter the other States gradually followed in general the Massachusetts pattern of Constitution-making in adoption of genuine Constitutions; but there was a delay of a number of years in this regard as to some of them, several decades as to a few.

This system of Constitution-making, for the purpose of establishing constitutionally limited government, is designed to put into practice the principle of the Declaration of Independence: that the people form their governments and grant to them only “just powers,” limited powers, in order primarily to secure (to make and keep secure) their God-given, unalienable rights. The American philosophy and system of government thus bar equally the “snob-rule” of a governing Elite and the “mob-rule” of an Omnipotent Majority. This is designed, above all else, to preclude the existence in America of any governmental power capable of being misused so as to violate The Individual’s rights–to endanger the people’s liberties.

With regard to the republican form of government (that of a republic), Madison made an observation in The Federalist (no. 55) which merits quoting here–as follows:

“As there is a degree of depravity in mankind which requires a certain degree of circumspection and distrust: So there are other qualities in human nature, which justify a certain portion of esteem and confidence. Republican government (that of a Republic) presupposes the existence of these qualities in a higher degree than any other form. Were the pictures which have been drawn by the political jealousy of some among us, faithful likenesses of the human character, the inference would be that there is not sufficient virtue among men for self government; and that nothing less than the chains of despotism can restrain them from destroying and devouring one another.” (Emphasis added.)

It is noteworthy here that the above discussion, though brief, is sufficient to indicate the reasons why the label “Republic” has been misapplied in other countries to other and different forms of government throughout history. It has been greatly misunderstood and widely misused–for example as long ago as the time of Plato, when he wrote his celebrated volume, The Republic; in which he did not discuss anything governmental even remotely resembling–having essential characteristics of–a genuine Republic. Frequent reference is to be found, in the writings of the period of the framing of the Constitution for instance, to “the ancient republics,” but in any such connection the term was used loosely–by way of contrast to a monarchy or to a Direct Democracy–often using the term in the sense merely of a system of Rule-by-Law featuring Representative government; as indicated, for example, by John Adams in his “Thoughts on Government” and by Madison in The Federalist numbers 10 and 39. But this is an incomplete definition because it can include a Representative Democracy, lacking a written Constitution limiting The Majority.

onstrike128xTo All My Valued Employees,

There have been some rumblings around the office about the future of
this company and, more specifically, your job. As you know, the economy
has changed  for the worse and presents many challenges. However, the
good news is this: The economy doesn’t pose a threat to your job. What
does threaten your job however, is the changing political landscape in
this country.

However, let me tell you some little tidbits of fact which might help
you decide what is in your best interest.

First, while it is easy to spew rhetoric that casts employers against
employees, you have to understand that, for every business owner, there
is a Back Story. This back story is often neglected and overshadowed by
what you see and hear. Sure, you see me park my Mercedes outside. You’ve
seen my big home at last year’s Christmas party. I’m sure; all these
flashy icons of luxury conjure up some idealized thoughts about my life.
However, what you don’t see is the BACK STORY:

I started this company 28 years ago. At that time, I lived in a 300
square foot studio apartment for 3 years. My entire living apartment was
converted into an office so I could put forth 100% effort into building
a company, which by the way, would eventually employ you.

My diet consisted of Ramen Pride noodles because every dollar I saved
went  back into this company. I drove a rusty Toyota Corolla with a
defective transmission. I didn’t have time to date. Often times, I
stayed home on weekends, while my friends went out drinking and
partying. In fact, I was married to my business — hard work,
discipline, and sacrifice.

Meanwhile, my friends got jobs. They worked 40 hours a week and made a
modest $50K a year and spent every dime they earned. They drove flashy
cars and lived in expensive homes and wore fancy designer clothes.
Instead of hitting the Nordstrom’s for the latest hot fashion item, I
was trolling through the discount store extracting any clothing item
that didn’t look like it was birthed in the 70’s. My friends refinanced
their mortgages and lived a life of luxury.  I, however, did not. I put
my time, my money, and my life into a business with a vision that
eventually, some day, I too, will be able to afford these luxuries my
friends supposedly had.

So, while you physically arrive at the  office at 9am, mentally check in
at about noon, and then leave at 5pm, I don’t. There is no “off” button
for me. When you leave the office, you are done and you have a weekend
all to yourself. I  unfortunately do not have the freedom. I eat, and
breathe this  company every minute of the day. There is no rest. There
is no weekend. There is no happy hour. Every day this business is
attached to my hip like a 1 year old special-needs child. You, of
course, only see the fruits of that garden — the nice house, the
Mercedes, the vacations… you never realize the Back Story and the
sacrifices I’ve made.

Now, the economy is falling apart and I, the guy that made all the right
decisions and saved his money, have to bail-out all the people who
didn’t. The people who overspent their paychecks suddenly feel entitled
to the same luxuries that I earned and sacrificed more than a decade of
my life for.

Yes, business ownership has is benefits but the price I’ve paid is steep
and not without wounds.

Unfortunately, the cost of running this business, and employing you, is
starting to eclipse the threshold of marginal benefit and let me tell
you why:

I am being taxed to death and the government thinks I don’t pay enough.
I have state taxes. Federal taxes. Property taxes. Sales and use taxes.
Payroll taxes. Workers compensation taxes. Unemployment taxes. Taxes on
taxes. I have to hire a tax man to manage all these taxes and then guess
what? I have to pay taxes for employing him. Government mandates and
regulations and all the accounting that goes with it, now occupy most of
my time.  On Oct 15th, I wrote a check to the US  Treasury for $288,000
for quarterly taxes. You know what my “stimulus” check was? Zero.. Nada.
Zilch.

The question I have is this: Who is stimulating the economy? Me, the guy
who has provided 14 people good paying jobs and serves over 2,200,000
people per year with a flourishing business? Or the single mother,
sitting at home pregnant with her fourth child waiting for her next
welfare check? Obviously, government feels the latter is the real
economic stimulus of this country.

The fact is, if I deducted (Read: Stole) 50% of your paycheck you’d quit
and you wouldn’t work here. I mean, why should you? That’s nuts. Who
wants to get rewarded only 50% of their hard work? Well, I agree, which
is why your job is in jeopardy.

Here is what many of you don’t understand … to stimulate the economy
you need to stimulate what runs the economy. Had suddenly, the
government mandated  to me that I didn’t need to pay taxes, guess what?
Instead of  depositing that $288,000 into the Washington black-hole, I
would have spent it, hired more employees, and generated substantial
economic growth. My employees would have enjoyed the wealth of that tax
cut in the form of promotions and better salaries. But – you can forget
it now.

When you have a comatose man on the verge of death, you don’t
defibrillate and shock his thumb, thinking that will bring him back to
life, do you? Or, do you defibrillate his heart? Business is at the
heart of America and always has  been. To restart it, you must stimulate
it, not kill it. Suddenly, the power brokers in Washington believe the
poor of America are the essential drivers of the American economic
engine. Nothing could be further from the truth; this is the type of
change YOU can keep.

So where am I going with all this?

It’s quite simple.

If any new taxes are levied on me, or my  company, my reaction will be
swift and simple.  I’ll fire you.  I’ll fire your co-workers. You can
then plead with the government to pay for your mortgage, your SUV, and
your child’s future. Frankly, it isn’t my problem any more.

Then, I  will close this company down, move to another country, and
retire. You see, I’m done. I’m done with a country that penalizes the
productive and gives to the unproductive.  My motivation to work, and to
provide jobs, will be destroyed and, with it, will be my citizenship.

So, if you lose your job, it won’t be at the hands of the economy; it
will be at the hands of a political hurricane that swept through this
country, steam-rolled the constitution, and will have changed its
landscape forever. If that happens, you can find me sitting on a beach,
retired, and with no employees to worry about….

Signed,  THE  BOSS

sunday morning, reading the internet news opinions and here it is, a journalist writing and article, with the heading “is the world spinning out of control”, someting i believe i have been saying for quite a while……. not only out of control, but gasping for breath as its drowning in an ocean of filth and mental stultification. if not now, but very soon, i sincerely believe, we will be in a 3rd world war, that will push civilization back to the stone age. these looters at the top are trying to hold a machine together which no longer works…… of course if you really want to take your mind away from the truth, there is always the sports channel, or the reality shows. makes me wonder when the gladiator games of the roman era will come back, you know the one with lions eating christians, and gladiators killing each other in games of survival. seem farfetched, not by any stretch of the imagination……

the changes in weather patterns has produced this year an unusual number of tornados, yet according to my own research on the thermodynamics of the storms, this pattern will persist and grow stronger until a balance is reached after the melting of the polar caps….. there will be no hurricanes of any duration as the atlantic oceans are getting much to warm to produce such an anomaly, and will occur less and less as the polar caps melt…… however the resultant change will affect the pacific oceans by producing typhoons 3 to 4 times as severe as normal and you may see the west coast of california actually become the next hurricane alley. the resultant change in the tornado frequency, will also shift fro a south-east/midwest area of occurrence to a westerly, and also a canadian midsection occurrence of frequent tornado activity…… the affects of these weather occurrences will drastically shorten the growth of our food supply, and you may see an overall reduction to 50% of what we used to grow to feed the world….. the poorest nations in the world will be the hardest affect, with their populations becoming so frantic over hunger, the eventual end result will be world war over the remaining supplies…. on a personal level, such as where you live, next year will see a doubling of the price of milk, tripling of the price of bread and a corn tortilla, quadrupling of the price of meats and chickens, and finally, as oil approaches a record $140 a barrel next week, gas will hit a new all time high of $5.50 a gallon…… these sociological changes in the economic life of this country will catch even the most die hard skeptics by surprise, and will produce a reaction quite unexpected , by the masses, one, of sheer panic…….. food will become a weapon of force to motivate the masses to do the bidding of their masters, are you ready to play or pay, which is it………
