I was there at that SAME meeting. This is a huge point, applicable not only to a small area of Texas, but across the country.

FTA: "Part of the explanation of the bill states that:
the goal of expanding 75,000 government-supported volunteers to 250,000, and would increase education funding and establish a summer volunteer program for students, paying $500 (which would be applied to college costs) to high-school and middle-school student who participate. Need I explain how much this might cost us, the taxpayers? It will be a bundle, accomplishing nothing, dumbing us down even farther than we already are, and a disincentive for some of the best volunteers, who see this as I see it — POLITICS and nothing more; politics which work against my best interest and which I will not support in any way."

Now here's the deal. About 600 RSVP volunteers got a nice lunch and some door prizes for their many and huge contribution of volunteering during the past year. None of all those volunteers wanted nor expected anything more. They were a captive audience to hosts who were mostly funded by the grants stolen from the taxpayer, and this law hugely expanded the amounts they will be expected to pay henceforth. On-stage was all staged to give kudos to this bill and to the local representative Chet Edwards who paid not a dime of this but gets CREDIT for the pork he brought "home", which greatly EXPANDED fiasco adds up to nearly a billion dollars every year across the country, at (not $500 but) $1,000 to student grants which will supposedly be selected by certain hard-working volunteers (yeah right!).

All these "kudos" at taxpayer expense, but 600 people sat there being lulled into such wonderment, and not a single person had opportunity to grab that mic to point out the truth, that this was all money taken by Force from the taxpayers. Rep Edwards gets kudos, Kennedy gets kudos, the taxpayer just once again gets bent over and his wallet emptied. The supreme sacrifice.

And Digg no longer allows Shouting? That is why I have moved to Mixx.com in lieu of Digg, NO Twit and SuckFace) while striving to build a "social website" for people who understand real Liberty, with help from our friends at http://morality101.net/blog/.
