Morality is Liberty without Force

We have all seen it. Someone makes a snide comment about some minority: racial, sexual orientation, color, intelligence, physically handicapped, etc, all of which are a personal, private issue. Let me stress up front that this is not a "bash" article, nor is it an "excuse" article. It is meant to be an article designed to encourage all conservatives to keep their eye on the ball and not get distracted by personal issues. Our time is short to save this nation - and it IS up to us to save it - our "leaders" seem notoriously out of fresh ideas.

Each portrayal may not be exact, but I trust you will get the gist of the sameness and difference between all parties.

1. Blacks, in particular, want total acceptance, and I think the country is well on its way of giving them that. However, their spokesmen seem to think more than equality is owed them. They also want reparations for slavery. No one living today was a slave, and no one living today owned a slave. That is unfortunate history. Forget about it and move on.
2. Those who are homosexuals, transvestites, et al want to be socially accepted.
I have been in many a situation, both business and personal, where there were both homosexuals and straights, and everyone seemed to be treated the same. But some homosexuals think more than social acceptance is owed them. They want to legislate that they want to be legally accepted as a married man and woman are.
3. Christians want to have a say in their government. And they do. But they want more than that. They want everyone else to comport with their values.
4. Physically handicapped individuals want to be able to go anywhere everyone else goes and be given jobs everyone else may be given. But some seem to want more than that. Let's face it, folks, it would be very difficult to be a surgeon if you were blind!

In each of these examples you may note there are actually two issues:
1. What the group's stated initial desire is and
2. The additional desires stated only after the initial desire is fulfilled.

This is commonly called the camel getting its nose under the tent. Wants almost NEVER stop once they start. In all cases above the public has shown its acceptance to the original desire, only to be disappointed that that wasn't really the agenda. From that moment on, the general public grows weary, then agitated as the "offender" will NOT be content with what he originally asked for and sometimes the "offender" gets in-the-face-of-the-public in his demands. A sure-fire way to win people to your side, huh?

Everyone of the groups, or any group, when agitating for what the public is against has taken a private thing and made it public. And anything that becomes public is grist for the mill.

Now to the purpose of this article: Getting the Obama team out of our capital.

Insults do nothing to state one's case and do nothing to win others over. What DOES work, if anything is going to work, is treating all respectfully. If you are arguing with an enemy that is one thing. However when you argue with your political friend, you are asking for defeat at the ballot box. For me a political friend is one who believes in limited government, lowest possible tax (or no tax at all), decency in all administrations, adherence to the US Constitution. If he believes in these things and acts accordingly, I couldn't care less what his religion or lack of same is. Same with all the other issues. When it comes time to win an election or LOSE FREEDOM, these are the only qualities I care about in any candidate and any supporter. To salvage freedom, never to be regained, I can be nice to people with whom I have differences that should not matter in an election.

As I said in a letter I wrote a friend - we conservatives better hang together, or to use a worn-out trite phrase, we will all hang separately. I personally believe that "progressives" when they vote do so in their own selfish interest. I have always thought conservatives voted, it was more for good of the country. But if some of the animosity I see on blogs is any indication we could well lose the coming election as well as future ones. Let's quit bashing each other and save that energy for those who would take our freedoms and throw them on the ash heap of history.

I tend to side with Christians on many things - not because they are Christian, but because these are things that should be agreed with - such as banning partial birth abortions in particular.

But I'd rather spend an hour with a pleasant homosexual than with a holier-than-thou Christian. It has nothing to do with WHAT they are but with how their personalities strike me. I'm not asking anyone to change his beliefs or his credos, or his moral stance. I'm just asking everyone to treat your political friends as you would like to be treated.

For this article the reasons for a person's distaste don't matter.

Note From a Cop The fear on the street is palpable. Ever since the election of Barack Obama as President of these United States in November 2008, coupled with the election of a democrat party majority in both the U.S. House and Senate, concern for the United States and personal safety has ignited like a fire in dry grass. Sales of guns – black guns, rifles, shotguns and handguns (particularly 9mm) everywhere, have gone through the roof. AR15s have literally flown off of dealer shelves, and only now in the spring of 2009, have I seen the display samples of ARs begin to reappear on the wall of my favorite shooting emporium after the initial post election rush. Manufacturers of ARs are still working to catch up and some of the major suppliers are as much as 150,000 guns behind. Not only that, ammo is in the shortest supply I have ever seen in the 43 years of my shooting life. Have you recently tried to get 5.56mm, 9mm or even 380 ammo? Supplies of 5.56mm and 9mm ammo are in short supply due to the black gun buying craze; .380ACP because of the rise in people getting concealed carry permits and the resurgence of interest in convenient 380 handguns like the fine Ruger LCP. In fact, in doing a review of the Ruger LCP, my gun store only had a small supply of ONE .380 round on hand, the Winchesters 95-grain SXT, which they had just gotten in. Unfortunately, I had to do a 30-round review of that pistol. There was none other to be found. What is odd about this new fear is that it is not coming from the average citizen gun owner out there, but it is coming from what to me is an almost shocking source: street cops.  Street cops and SWAT cops that I know from various agencies – rural, suburban and metro – in my area are scared. Cops that before November 2008 never gave much thought (that I knew of anyway) to politics or more importantly to gun rights. For the most part, these are the guys that didn’t generally have any interest in shooting or gun ownership beyond keeping track of where their duty gun is, and a few of them didn’t even do that so well. The guys I am talking about now are some of the same guys who used to not even carry off duty on a regular basis- but not anymore. They don’t scare easily, defenders of the Constitution of this State and the United States (as our oath of office reads), have been buying ARs, survival gear, and all the ammo they can lay their hands on. All of them (or I should say “us”) have been discussing and have been acquiring guns to provide a layered perimeter defense. What are we suddenly so afraid of? Well in our discussions it seems to boil down to four areas. First, fear of federal government intrusion into our lives. Every time I look at or listen to the news, there is something new and intrusive coming out of the Obama administration and this Congress. New tax schemes, government-run Canadian-style healthcare, a volunteer citizen defense force (whatever that is, what happened to the National Guard?) equipped with funding similar to our military, forced voluntary “service” after retirement, a lack of a southern border with hordes of illegal and criminal aliens pouring over our border, the swine flu scare as well as government forced closing of thousands of privately held Chrysler and GM dealerships, which will be the final nail in the coffin for these companies and the list goes on and on. But these items in the news are just the tip of the iceberg. We can’t see the full impact of these actions yet, but we don’t know what was added into the thousand of pages of stimulus package bills in the dead of night yet. I predict however that when the plans contained in the stimulus packages go into effect, a lot of us are going to be surprised if not shocked by what has suddenly and sweepingly changed. What also scares us is the second, well-founded fear that there is an assault weapons ban looming, one that would make the Clinton Ban appear like a look of disdain in comparison. I remember well the 1990s and the Clinton years: the rise of militia groups, the “black helicopter” rumors and paranoia, all of which was motivated by the Brady Law and the Assault Weapon’s ban. What if a new ban comes requiring registration or confiscation and turn-in of banned weapons as what happened in Australia? ...I foresee much civil disobedience coming down the road. Americans are citizens, and not subjects like the British, Canadians or Australians. They just don’t always obey the law blindly and not one officer or citizen that I spoke to said anything like “I hope I get to keep this gun for awhile before they are banned; They are fun to shoot, so I would hate to give it up.” It isn’t going to happen, so the cop on the street and the soldier on the base needs to think now what he will do if the orders come down. I think you all get what I am saying here. Which leads me to the third fear, that there is a revolution coming, yes, a revolution on the scale of the original American Revolution. You can hear this topic discussed on many of the talk radio shows by even the big name hosts. The possibility of an armed revolution against the U.S. government being discussed, albeit very gingerly and fleetingly and as something to be avoided, which it is. I never heard this mentioned in the 90s. One of my quietest, low profile officer friends brought it up the other day. He said that at some point in the near future, he felt there is going to be an armed revolt if things keep going the way they are. Something has got to give. I was shocked. Yes, I had heard this from some of my more radical cop friends in the past, but to hear it from a guy like this was unprecedented. Now, these guys are not saying this will happen to foment revolution, preach sedition or to even participate. They just want to be ready if it happens, to at least defend their families, because number four on the fear list is general societal chaos. Cops fear for their parents, wives, children or grandchildren more now than ever before. Most cops are encouraging their spouses and loved ones to get concealed carry permits. Not only that, but some of these same cops are buying gun mounts for their personal cars so they can carry an AR in the family ride at the ready all the time. They are also strapping on heavier forms of off-duty hardware. I have other friends that are issued ARs or subguns for tactical team use, who always have their gear with them and are planning on just commandeering these weapons for personal use in defending hearth and home. Final Notes This is pretty heady and maybe even dangerous stuff. Know fully that I am not advocating anything here. I am reflecting to you what I see and hear going on around me, and maybe saying things that haven’t been said in the open, until now. It is something to think about. We as a nation are facing MAJOR problems and if we don't decide to work together, then we shall all suffer together.  Let's all take off our political party philosophy blinders, please, and let's look at things rationally, then let's act rationally.  What a concept!!

If we bow to other nations, will it make us respected by the world that currently thinks we are too full of ourselves?  How will it benefit us in any way? If we remove all our protective armament and bring all our military home, will we be safer? If we manage to remove all links with God from our government, will we be a healthier nation? If we continue teaching young children about homosexuality, how to prevent pregnancy, how to protect against VD, will they be healthier and happier adults? If we have some of our citizens pay for the health care of those who pay nothing for theirs, will that make us a more "caring" nation, and more than that, will it make us a more cohesive collection of individuals? If our elected 'leaders' do not represent us while using our money, do we accept that without some severe yelling? If our schools and universities persist in teaching a philosophy with which at least half the nation is unhappy, will that bring us together as a nation? If we don't protect our borders from unchecked migration, what will be the outcome within the next 20 years? If radical Islam rears its head within our midst, what are we going to do about it?  How will it affect the future for our kids and grandchildren? If many parents continue to disregard their responsibility to properly raise their children, will this be healthy?  If it isn't helpful, what do we do about it? I know what I believe about all of the above and it has nothing to do with which political party is in power - the parties DO NOT think for me.  Do you know what you think about the above.  Does your party think for you, or will you put party aside and let's just work together to get things headed in the right direction.  Can we do that?  Are we strong enough to do that?  Do we have the intelligence to do that?  Or should we just watch our wonderful nation crumble as we squabble like silly geese about mostly unimportant things?
It is an affront and an abomination to have anyone, but especially a bunch of stupid people, presume the authority to run your life. Not to withdraw your consent is an act of gratuitous self-contempt. Creating liberty is just the opposite. Liberty in your lifetime is not just possible, it’s the ultimate do-it-yourself project. sunday morning, reading the internet news opinions and here it is, a journalist writing and article, with the heading "is the world spinning out of control", someting i believe i have been saying for quite a while....... not only out of control, but gasping for breath as its drowning in an ocean of filth and mental stultification. if not now, but very soon, i sincerely believe, we will be in a 3rd world war, that will push civilization back to the stone age. these looters at the top are trying to hold a machine together which no longer works...... of course if you really want to take your mind away from the truth, there is always the sports channel, or the reality shows. makes me wonder when the gladiator games of the roman era will come back, you know the one with lions eating christians, and gladiators killing each other in games of survival. seem farfetched, not by any stretch of the imagination......
so what do you do when the world has gone insane? did you know the israelies conducted a military excercise today involving massive attack jetfighters and ground forces, some say is a test run for bombing iran. did you also know that the russians warned the world today that any attack on iran would be unacceptable. so with the escalating insanity about to start, do you think maybe, the crazy old boys with the finger on the trigger, are considering the nuclears option. madness seems to be the order of the day, and with the whole world as a battleground, burning the planet up, is on their minds...... as i said too many people, too many nuts, and way too many weapons in the hands of fools...... may you have a good day
George Bush along with the president of France and 4 other nations, sent to the Iranian government a new proposal of economic incentives, in order to get them to stop trying to build the "bomb". Of course the Iranians rejected the offer from the start, and moves all sides in the dispute closer to a military confrontation. There are those in the political arena who have publicly stated, that before George Bush leaves office, his administration will bomb Iran's nuclear facilities. A nuclear Iran would be a rogue atomic power, with no inhibitions over bombing Israel, and would become the start of WWIII, You can be sure Israel would turn Tehran into an ocean of glass, and would ultimately bring the other great superpowers into the fray. There are those who would hide there heads in the sand, just as Neville Chamberlin did, in dealing with Adolph Hitler. Of course 6 years later, and approximately 60 million dead, proved to the world that appeasement only produces more death in the end. The question at this time is, would a preemptive strike against Iran stop their mad plunge into worldwide destruction. The president of Iran has stated publicly, that, "if you bomb us, you will open up the gates of hell", and one can only surmise such a statement, if true, would entail a full military confrontation between various superpowers, however unprovoked, but become a reality with the use of any atomic weapons. I can only imagine, the price of crude oil, would become mind boggling, and if the Strait of Hormuz, should become unusable or blocked, would shut the western economies down, along with the emerging asian conglomerates. So much is depending on these oil producing countries, that, in a word, the rest of the world would be held hostage to the growing calamity. If you think $4 a gallon is tough now, try $12 or $18 dollars a gallon, and in such an event, half of the world would starve to death, over lack of energy to grow food. Such a scenario seems far fetched, but all too real when you look at the players. Once again it comes down to the price of crude, when we should be focusing our efforts toward creating a viable superconductor, design our machines that use oil, to run for long lengths of time using very little oil, and using nuclear energy to take the impetus away, from using so much oil. Yet, there are those, confronted by these realities, who would rather hide their heads in the sand, and pretend it will never happen. Neither did the holocost, or the black plague, but I suggest, you look at the record of history, and then try to understand what appeasement created, otherwise, take a good long look at your children before they go to bed tonight, and ask yourself, will they live a full and good life, or will it end at a young age of starvation and misery.

Do you know, with a superconductor, you can power a car with 2 deep cycle batteries, for a week, running at 80mph, 24 hrs a day, light and heat a house for a month, run a freezer, watch TV, play with your computer, all off a couple of batteries, geez, gotta make you wonder, if we can create the manhattan project to build the a-bomb, what would happen if we created another project to create a superconductor, just to get the oil cartels off our backs, and maybe save the planet in the process, mmmmmmmmmmmm, just for thought........
