Britannicus, first, thanks for the comments. It sounds like you have been on this for some time. I think the biggest thing the American public is learning is how well our representatives in government DO NOT represent us – merely themselves. The American public has ignored for years the mess that is our federal government and I cannot help but place some of the blame for that mess on those in our society who make no attempt to “keep an eye” on our elected officials and who continue to elect people who do NOT represent the US citizen.
I can read your concerns; they are almost viscerally intent, and I understand that. I think many in this country feel the same way as most of us don’t see anything useful being done by our congressmen, but we do see a lot of harm being done by them. Actually when we try to contact them, it is almost impossible to get through, and we never know if our message ever reached their ears.
I, for one, am calling for all voters to please, let’s throw out the entire Congress when elections roll around. It’ll take a couple of elections, but we CAN do it. And let’s all demand term limits. Those in office now have siphoned off just about all the money and good will they can from us – it’s time for them to retire.
Such issues as immigration reform and health care should not be left to a thrall of politicians, who many do not have the public interest at heart in these matters? Already we have seen this materialize with the original under-funding of our main enforcement–THE BORDER FENCE CONSTRUCTION and the weakening of the illegal worker identifier–E-VERIFY? As it always happens the status-quo have always have the monetary inroads in influencing our legislators, leaving the general population to be startled by a new law enacted, before they have a chance to respond. H.R. bills and amendments are passed in Washington chambers, but the real payout takes place behind closed doors.
